| One of the areas of development
at ACELS has been the design and implementation of a new EFL exam
- the Test of Interactive English - for English language learners.
The Test of Interactive English (TIE) is an Irish EFL exam developed
by a group of Irish EL professionals under the aegis of the Accreditation and Co-ordination of English Language Services
(ACELS). The test is task-based,
requiring each candidate to carry out a number of pre-specified tasks
prior to taking the test. Assessment if given according to the Council
of Europe's Common Framework Scale of Language Proficiency.
The test is offered in two formats:
- The Junior TIE: for English language learners of 12- 18 years
old
- The TIE: for English language learners of 18+ (post secondary)
The National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI) wishes to announce a revised process for the approval of providers interested in working with us to promote and administer the Test of Interactive English (TIE). In the interest of maintaining and enhancing the quality of the TIE examinations and to make TIE available to all interested learners, we are inviting interested parties to apply for approved TIE provider status.
NQAI has published Interim Standards and Guidelines for interested parties seeking TIE provider approval.
Please send your expression of interest to apply for TIE Provider Approval status before the 30th November 2011 to tie@nqai.ie Interested parties will receive further details of the application process.
Interested parties may submit their application on or before 31st January, 2012. Late applications will not be considered.
The NQAI will evaluate applications and make decisions in relation to approval by the 29th February, 2012. Approved TIE providers may commence the administration of TIE examinations following the completion of the approval process. |
